It is with mixed emotions that the Board of Directors and staff of the BC Sustainable Energy Association write to inform you that Guy Dauncey, Founder of the organization, has announced his decision to leave his current position as Communications Director to focus on other pursuits:
Friends,
I founded the BCSEA eleven years ago, and I have been deeply immersed in our many projects and activities ever since.
During that time I have also authored and co-authored several books, including The Climate Challenge: 101 Solutions to Global Warming. For the past three years, alongside my work with the BCSEA, I have been writing a major new book titled Journey to the Future: A Better World Is Possible, and I really need more time to be able to complete it and see it through to publication.
With the BCSEA under new leadership, and Ali Grovue as our Interim Executive Director, now is a good time for me to step aside and let the new leadership plan the future of the BCSEA without me. Eleven years is a good span of time, and it will be good to let fresh ideas run through the BCSEA’s inspirational veins.
I’m not disappearing —I will still be working to make this world a better place and to achieve the sustainable energy transition that is so urgently needed to address the climate crisis.
I am really, really appreciative of all the support that we have received from our many members and supporters over the years, and I do encourage you to continue to give your support to the BCSEA, as I will be doing myself.
With warm wishes,
Guy
Guy is unquestionably one of the most dedicated advocates of sustainable energy and a champion for the fight against climate change. No matter how busy he is he always makes time to share his knowledge, energy, and enthusiasm with our members and the public.
In this year of the BCSEA’s 11th anniversary, there is much to celebrate. We have educated 60,000 elementary school children, held events across the Province, and intervened in over 80 BC Utilities Commission proceedings. Today, as the organization faces a time of change and transition, we remain committed to our mission to champion conservation initiatives and renewable energy while empowering British Columbians to build a clean, sustainable energy future.
We thank Guy for the gift he has given the community in creating this organization and for his many contributions over the years, including serving as BCSEA’s President. We know he will continue to contribute his expertise and efforts to the cause, and we wish him continued success.
Thank you as always to our members for your continued support and commitment to helping BC become a world leader in the use of sustainable energy.
