Walbran Valley Town Hall Meeting next Tues. July 21

Walbran Valley Town Hall poster

Hi PAOV,

As you may be aware, the legendary Walbran Valley is under threat of clearcut logging.

Surrey-based Teal Jones has submitted an application for the first of eight potential cutblocks in the central Walbran Valley, and this permit could be approved any day now.

A dedicated and passionate movement is emerging in opposition to these destructive logging plans, and you’re invited to join us next Tuesday at the Save the Walbran Valley Town Hall Meeting.

In just a few weeks, close to 1,000 people have written letters demanding the Premier and the Minister of Forests deny logging permits in the Walbran. And last week, almost 100 people joined us for a rally outside the Ministry of Forests office to echo this call.

So far, the provincial government has been missing in action on this crisis. We won’t stop until they take notice and come to the table.

Next Tuesday night, we’ll dig deeper into this critical issue: we’ll hear from individuals from the Nuu-chah-nulth Nations whose territories encompass the Walbran Valley, highlight the latest photos and video from the threatened groves and formulate next steps in the campaign.
