LAUNCH: This Saturday, Aug 29, 7-9pm, Martin Batchelor Gallery, Victoria: Art exhibit by Frances Baskerville--Personalising the plight of the Palestinian people

It is with great pleasure that CJPME advise you of an upcoming art exhibit by local Victoria artist Frances Baskerville featuring several paintings that personalise the plight and struggle of the Palestinian people.

The launch of the exhibit, open to the public and with Ms Baskerville in attendance, will be held as follows:

Saturday, August 29th
7-9pm
Martin Batchelor Gallery
712 Cormorant Street
Victoria BC V8W 1P8

If you are not able to attend the opening, the exhibition itself will run from Saturday, August 29th to Wednesday, September 30th. Gallery hours are Monday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm.

From Ms Baskerville's artist's statement: "Fran’s wealth of life experience lends a passionate intensity to her artworks. Her large scale, acrylic paintings focus on the drama of being human. They spotlight tumultuous emotions and intense experiences. In recurring themes, her subjects struggle with tension and strive for release. Moments of deliverance are fleeting, illusive and precious. The artist’s concern about personal freedom moves into the political arena in several exhibition paintings. A member of a human rights group, she personalizes the plight of the Palestinian people."

The poignant beauty of Ms Baskerville's work is well known, and her artistic accomplishments are many. Frances is also very active in human rights and works with local Palestine solidarity group Coalition Against Israeli Apartheid (CAIA).

We hope will consider attending. Please tell your family, friends, and colleagues about this important exhibit.

Kind regards,

Frances
