Dear Friends and members of CASC, Gerd Weih died after a short illness a week ago.He was an active member of CASC for many years. Gerd had a long and fruitful life. He healed many people and brought hundreds of babies into o the world. His commitment to social justice and peace in Latin America took us from the jungles of Chiapas to elections in El Salvador to refugee camps and clandestine meeting with Guatemalan resisters during the war there. Gerd volunteered as a doctor in the Contra war zone in Nicaragua and also picked coffee co-op there. He was active in Tools for Peace and just before his death he ordered and started to bag a fresh roast of CASC’s Cafe Simpatico – work that Tm & I will continue. I am fortunate to be surrounded by dear friends and family who are caring for me at this difficult time. By continuing to work... in social justice and solidarity and renewing your efforts to make this a better world, you can express your respect for Gerd’s life and support my efforts to continue the journey Gerd & I set out on 37 years ago.
