Today, Divest McGill is
launching Fossil Free Week: A Week for Climate Justice at
McGill.
This is an important moment for Divestment at McGill
and in Canada. Students and alumni are camping in at community square
on McGill campus asking for
McGill’s Board of Governors commit
to an immediate freeze on all investments in fossil fuel companies,
and move without further delay toward a decision on full divestment.

Divest McGill first asked the university to divest its holdings in the
fossil fuel industry almost three years ago, and the administration
has continuously delayed a decision on divestment.
This

After three years and little to no
progress on divestment, the time for words alone is over. Now is the
time for McGill to take action.
