The People's Spark: Igniting Climate Action at COP21
This
December, leaders of the world will meet in Paris during COP21 to reach a
global agreement for action on climate change. We – the people – have greater
diversity and motivation to make a change as those with the decision-making
power. So let’s help them out with addressing this important issue. On November
29th, the day before COP21 begins, we will come together to put pressure on our
leaders and show them that the peoples’ opinions, and needs, matter.
We are grateful to organize this event on
unceded Lekwungen and WSANEC territories.
Check out our Facebook event: https://www.facebook.com/events/177541979251776/
or also this event is part of a world wide movement, to read more, go to: https://www.avaaz.org/en/event/globalclimatemarch/?slideshow

YOU are invited to join a collective, creative,
non-violent direct action at 12:00am at the Inner Harbor in Downtown Victoria.
We will each carry a red cardboard flame, forming a moving,
shifting inferno of human beings; together shining a light on the issue of
climate change. Leading up to the event we will be having
“flame-building-workshops” (the next one : Saturday 14th of November,
spread the word via this event : https://www.facebook.com/events/1487456431556911/) and we
encourage people to think about the following question:
“What do you see as the solution(s) to climate
change?”
These answers will be written on the other side
of our bright flames, and we will be inspired by all our different world-views
and solutions, and maybe even start conversations about what we can do as a
group and as individuals now and in the time after COP21.
The question of climate change is big and
complex, and this can make it difficult, and even depressing to think about,
but you are not alone. This is our chance to come together, and start
decreasing the gap between the world we have and the world we want.
We are the ones we have been waiting for, let us
work together and ignite the movement!

Mosqoy is seeking financial support to help two indigenous Quechua students from Peru to become students at UVic this Spring 2016.
Mosqoy is sponsoring Adrian Jimenez Suma and Lisbeth Monica Chavez Monge to come to our campus to study English. They will have the opportunity to act as cultural ambassadors for their weaving communities back home, and will be presenting in a variety of schools and organizations across B.C. For example, in collaboration with local indigenous bands and the Langley Fine Arts School, we are inviting indigenous youth and students from all over Canada, Kenya, and our two students from Peru, for a weekend-long youth summit on the West Coast.
This program offers a powerful educational experience for our Quechua youth, and the exchange brings such potential to inspire social and environmental justice at home and abroad. Our fundraising goal to meet all their needs during their stay is $10,000.
More information is available on the Mosqoy website at http://mosqoy.org/get-involved/sponsor/ or by contacting Rosa McBee, Global Stewardship Program Manager, Mosqoy, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
