As a RAVEN donor and fundraiser, you stand alongside Indigenous Peoples on the key legal battlefronts in Canada.
The West Moberly and Prophet River Bands are in Provincial Court today, initiating their push-back on BC Hydro Permits for the building of the Site C Dam, which were issued without due consultation. Your generosity and commitment to put reconciliation into action has given them an equal footing in the courtroom.
We’ve seen a dramatic increase in requests for support since the Tsilhqot’in title decision. RAVEN is currently raising funds for 12 tribes who are in undertaking legal actions defend their rights, their traditional territories, and the environment that nurtures us all. These tribes are taking a stand to stop the expansion of the Tar Sands, the development of the Northern Gateway Pipeline, the building of the Site C dam, and the destruction of Fish Lake through mining.

RAVEN is the ONLY organization in Canada that raises legal defence funds for First Nations. We are having a direct and powerful impact on the ability of First Nations to access justice. We operate with a minimal staff team and keep administrative allocations below 15% so that more funds raised go directly to the legal costs of the nations.
