At Leadnow, we're working together to build real power among every-day people across Canada so that we can hold governments accountable and begin to address the greatest challenges of our time - preventing runaway climate change, reducing the inequality that’s tearing at our social fabric, and strengthening our democracy.
Leadnow is different. We’re an independent, multi-issue campaigning community driven by people-power.
What does that mean?
1. We’re fiercely independent. Leadnow is not associated with any political party, or politician. We’ll work with them when it makes sense, but never be afraid to criticize and hold them to account when necessary.
2. We’re multi-issue. Most campaigning organizations focus on one (or a small range) of issues. Instead, we’re working to build a large community that takes effective action together online and in person, through working on a range of issues that matter. People like you join our community by taking action on an issue you already care about, then we send you opportunities to take further action on that campaign, as well as introducing you to other issues.
From defending our voting rights, to protecting our health care, and demanding transparency in the Senate, we’ve mobilized hundreds of thousands of people in the Leadnow community to make their voices heard and won key battles for our democracy. This includes helping defeat the Harper Conservatives - one of largest obstacles to progressive change in a generation.
The Vote Together campaign mobilized tens of thousands of voters to work around our broken voting system and defeat the Harper Conservatives in the 2015 federal election, so we could start to make progress in our top priority areas: a strong democracy, fair economy and clean environment.
3. We’re people-powered. Leadnow has a small, super-efficient staff team, but the most important part of Leadnow is YOU, and the half a million people like you - our members - from coast to coast to coast taking action together. You help decide what campaigns we run, and it’s your actions - everything from contacting politicians, to organizing a house meeting or going door to door and talking your neighbours - that makes the difference. The Leadnow community is spread across every part of the country, all ages, and across the political spectrum.
4. We’re funded by people like you - mostly through lots of small donations - and we don’t take money from political parties, big corporations or governments, or accept donations in exchange for influence. We’re a registered Canadian non-profit, but not a charity. This is really important, as it keeps us free to say whatever needs to be said.
We’ll be in touch soon with some more ways you can be a part of this, but for now, please take a minute to follow us on whatever social media you use:
