We DID IT!!! As part of Pull Together you helped us reach $600k r1 ... You did it. Look what we can do when we Pull Together!

The movement to stop pipelines and tankers from forever changing BC reached a milestone. Today we reached our goal of raising $600,000 for the nations in court to stop Enbridge's Northern Gateway pipeline. Your work organizing, fundraising and protesting together with for indigenous people across BC put reconciliation into meaningful action. Last fall, we put out a call and you came through, bigtime. You should be incredibly proud of the impact you’ve had!

With Pull Together we have danced, marched, sang, paddled, stretched and eaten our way through 15 incredible months of solidarity. The energy of the movement you’ve been part of was loud and proud: so much so, it provoked the new government into making a moratorium on tankers on the north coast one of their top priorities.

First Nations from Bella Bella to Prince George stand united in their opposition to the Northern Gateway pipeline project. That unbroken chain of protection is made much stronger for the very real support you’ve provided. You are standing shoulder to shoulder with thousands of people who have organized events, fundraised, and donated to support legal challenges to Enbridge.

And yet, Enbridge is a company with deep pockets. While a crude oil tanker ban would put an end to this pipedream for once and for all, the oil executives assume they can just jingle the change in their pockets until a new government with different priorities comes to Ottawa. Enbridge has recently said that they are not giving up on the Northern Gateway project and are actively lobbying Trudeau and First Nations along the pipeline route.

So our work isn’t over yet. While we await the judgement in the First Nations lawsuits that you have so generously supported, we need to be calling on our new federal government to introduce a legislated oil tanker ban that respects the Coastal First Nations ban that already exists.

A moratorium isn’t enough, as it can be overturned by future governments. A permanent, legislated oil tanker ban for B.C.’s north coast is the surest way to provide clear and lasting protection from the threat of catastrophic oil spills for this spectacular, abundant part of the world.

Send a letter to Prime Minister Trudeau today to let him know we look forward to seeing that legislation passed into law at the earliest opportunity.

"Though the chill of coastal winter is setting in, we are deeply warmed by the generosity of our allies. As we reflect on the past year full of challenges and triumphs, your support energizes us for the hard work of a new year ahead. We know it will bring great things, and we look forward to forging on with all of you alongside us!”— Chief Marilyn Slett, Heiltsuk Nation

What a beautiful way to wrap up a momentous year. Let’s celebrate Pull Together’s achievement alongside the Gitxaala, Kitasoo/Xai’xais, Heiltsuk, Gitga'at, Haida, Nadleh Whut’en and Nak’azdli Nations. Their strong stance in court was supported by YOUR incredible grassroots activism & unrelenting commitment. Your involvement with Pull Together is a gift to future generations.
