Last week, with your support, we delivered hundreds messages of hope for public health care directly to the federal health minister.

The stunning visual of hundreds of hearts strung along Georgia street was impossible to miss. We received fantastic media coverage featuring public health care advocates who had gathered from across the country. All day people stopped to talk about health care, and to contribute to the public art installation.

We delivered your messages to the health minister. On the final day of the ministers' conference, we delivered your messages directly to the federal health minister.

The messages you sent last week, and the years of work we've done together, shaped the way the media talked about the meeting and many... of the issues we've long advocated for were discussed by the ministers.

The provincial, territorial and federal health ministers have said they will work together to negotiate a new health accord and have also indicated that some form of national pharmacare will be a priority. This only the beginning of the work that needs to be done to ensure all people in Canada can access the care they need in a timely manner, but the level of collaboration at this meeting seemed to be a shift from that of the previous federal government. You made sure the voices of the public were represented at this important new beginning.

The Liberals made some big promises during the campaign, but they could still do more to show the bold leadership that is needed to make deep and lasting improvements to Canadian health care. Actions like the ones we took together last week will continue to be an important part of holding them accountable.

Thank you for making this action such a success, and for your continued support for public health care.

Sincerely,

Edith, BC Health Coalition co-chair
