All around us, things are changing. We see it in the new weather
patterns from below the 49th parallel to the arctic circle. We can see
it in the consistently low value of oil on the market. We can see it
in the number of layoffs in the oil and gas sector. We can see it in
those who stand up for their inherent and treaty rights in the face of
new infrastructure. We can hear it in the voices of those calling out
for justice.
We can help this change grow into a wave of new, bold action. Which
is why we are hosting PowerShift Alberta, in
Amiskwaciwâskahikan (Edmonton).
PowerShift has helped to grow this generation of climate justice
organizers since 2009 with national gatherings in 2009 and 2012 in
Ottawa, and regional gatherings in BC in 2013 and the Atlantic in
2014. Now we are bringing it to the Prairies. From April 1-3, 2016
join hundreds of other youth from across the Prairies, the North and
beyond to learn, build community, and get prepared to make change.
Workshops, panel discussions, skill building, inspirational
keynotes, and uplifting entertainment will bring us together to
learn
how climate solutions must also address the ways our society has never
worked for some communities. And together, we will prepare to mobilize
the places where we live and work to take meaningful action for
climate justice.
PowerShift
Alberta comes at a unique moment of political possibility and economic
uncertainty. Will you join us to seize that
moment?
