Dear Paov,
I am writing you today to ask your help in stopping a mine disaster in the making. I am talking about the proposed Ajax open pit gold-copper mine, which would put the city of Kamloops, BC, its 90,000 residents and the surrounding area under threat from mine pollution if built.
The governments of BC, Canada and the Stk’emlupsemc te Secwepemc First Nation, are conducting Environmental Assessments of this massive mine project and are calling for your comments right now. That’s why I am asking you to write in opposition to the Ajax Mine Project before the deadline for comment – midnight on Monday April 11.
Opposition to the Ajax Mine Project in Kamloops is fierce. The huge open pit mine would be located very near schools, a hospital, homes and even the local university. Local people need our help to help fight this monster mine.
Dust from mine operations would add to levels of air pollution that are already too high in Kamloops. Ajax Mine and all its pollutants would be too close to the Thompson River and its world famous salmon runs.
Local First Nations are concerned about the Ajax Mine Project’s potential impact on their lands and traditional fishing areas.
Click here to write today! Say NO to the Ajax Mine Project. The best way to prevent a mine disaster is to stop it before it happens.
