It's time to raise your voice again for the Walbran Valley

Dear Paov,

Last winter, hundreds of people joined phone blitzes on the first Wednesday of every month and spoke up for the Central Walbran Valley.

In March, we put our WalbranWednesday campaign on hold, to create space for Teal Jones and the BC government to commit to protecting this rare rainforest ecosystem. But after a few meetings and months of delay, it doesn’t look like the company or our elected officials are serious about sparing some of the last unprotected intact old-growth on southern Vancouver Island.

So, on July 6th, we’ll relaunch WalbranWednesday and raise our voices together again to send them a message they can’t ignore.

Here’s how it works:

You invite your friends, family and everyone you know who cares about the environment to the Facebook event page – we need your help to build a massive community of folks who will participate. A few days before the action, we’ll announce this month’s target (previously we’ve called Teal Jones and several branches of the BC government), provide the phone number and email address and a sample of points you could raise.

Then, on WalbranWednesday, we'll all take five minutes to phone or email (or both!) the target and demand that they side with the citizens, municipal governments and business groups who are calling for the protection of the Central Walbran Valley!

We know that Teal Jones and the BC government don’t like this tactic – they can’t defend cutting down the last of the unprotected old-growth for profit, because there is no rationale for doing so.

Your voice has the power to save the Central Walbran, and this is an action you can join from anywhere.

Will you join us?
