Dear Paov,
Your summer holidays are all planned out. Sunscreen - check! Beach blanket - check!
Unfortunately big oil and Ottawa know about your summer holiday plans too - which is why they have just scheduled community hearings on the Kinder Morgan pipeline for July and August. They are counting on you being too busy to attend to say NO to Kinder Morgan’s pipeline dream.
Let’s prove big oil wrong. After years of being shut out and ignored, affected communities will finally have the chance to speak out against the Kinder Morgan pipeline. We have to show up in in Calgary, Edmonton, Jasper, Kamloops, Chilliwack, Abbotsford, Langley, Burnaby, Vancouver and Victoria - even if we’re in our swimsuits!
If you can’t make it to one of the dates mentioned, then fill out the online questionnaire that’s open till Sept 30 or email them your much-needed comments to: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
Three government representatives will be traveling down the pipeline and tanker route this summer and we need you to tell them loud and clear – this pipeline is a disaster.
The panel wraps up their findings in November, and the final decision will likely be around Dec 19, 2016. We have to turn out in droves before that, and let the federal government know BC’s overwhelming opposition to the project. Now is our chance to show the rest of the country just how much clean waters and a stable climate mean to us.
Beyond protecting our home from a catastrophic oil spill, this can be the moment Canada changes course on climate change. While it’s easy to feel powerless, we can take the power back.
Gather your friends and neighbours to fight Kinder Morgan. Together, we will stop this pipeline and build the future we know is possible.
Here’s when the pipeline panel will be in your community. More than a meeting, we are working with allies to turn these events into a celebration of our region and a show of solidarity. You will not want to miss this.
