Help me bring your voices to the voting reform committee in Ottawa

  • Print

I have some exciting news! Thanks to the over 24,000 people who have joined the Vote Better campaign for proportional representation, we’ve been invited to present directly to the government’s special committee on voting reform in Ottawa on August 30th.

FILL OUT THE SURVEY

This is an opportunity to bring your voice directly to the MPs who will be picking the voting system that will replace our broken first-past-the-post system. It’s a way to make sure that your message about the need to make every vote count gets directly to the decision-makers on this issue.

That’s why I wanted to check in with you before I go. We only have a few days to prepare a presentation and a brief for the committee about the Leadnow community’s position on voting systems, online voting, youth voting, and mandatory voting. Will you make sure we capture your voice by filling out this five-minute survey on voting reform before 4:00pm ET on Wednesday, August 24th?

FILL OUT THE SURVEY

The survey asks a few important questions:

  • What kind of voting system do you want for Canada?
  • Do you think voting should be mandatory?
  • Do you think people should be able to vote online?
  • Should we lower the voting age to 16?

We also want you to share your stories and thoughts on why this is an important issue to you, so we can bring the voices of our community directly into the committee chamber.

We compiled some information on each of these issues in case you need more background, which you can access by opening the survey.

Will you help me represent the Leadnow community by filling out the survey and letting me know what I should tell the committee on August 30th?

I’m excited to be presenting on your behalf, and I’ll make sure to let you know how it goes. You can also watch the Leadnow presentation on CPAC.ca starting at 2pm on August 30th.
