For the past week, they've sang, drummed, and smudged their way across the country.

After an epic road trip, dozens of First Nations community members from Treaty 8 have finally touched down in Montreal. Today, the Federal Court will be ground zero for the defense of Indigenous Rights in this country.

Prophet River and West Moberly First Nations have been fighting the Site C hydroelectric dam project for close to five decades. Site C is a disastrous plan to build a giant dam in the Peace River Valley of northeastern BC. It’s an $8.8 billion project that will flood 83 km of farmland, drown wildlife habitat, and trample indigenous rights.

This morning, the Federal Court of Appeal will hear Treaty 8's legal challenge to the project.

RAVEN has raised nearly $300,000 for Treaty 8 First Nations’ legal challenges. Thanks to supporters like you, we've brought Site-C dam to the attention of the national media and made it possible for Treaty 8 First Nations to stand in court today knowing they have the strength of people across this country behind them.

As a RAVEN supporter, you know that treaty rights of First Nations offer some of the strongest environmental protections in the world: we stand a good chance of victory in the courts. Even so, legal challenges are expensive, and a major financial burden on First Nations. Thanks to the many people who have donated, fundraised, and organized events, we've raised just $7200 less than $300k. If you can, please contribute today and help us reach our goal.

The Site C Dam is a litmus test of the commitments made by Canada to have a renewed, nation-to-nation relationship with Indigenous Peoples. Today, Treaty 8 Justice for the Peace Caravan will be joined by supporters nationwide in calling for a respectful relationship that honours Treaties and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

Let's make today a day we put reconciliation into action. Stand with First Nations against Site-C.

Thank you for all that you do.
