BCSEA is a non-profit society that relies on memberships to advance the low-carbon economy. Will you please join us?

Dear PAOV,

Ali Grovue is stepping down as Executive Director

On behalf of the BCSEA Board, Chapters and membership, I would like to notify you regarding a change in the Executive Director position. Ali Grovue has decided to step down as Executive Director effective September 30th, 2016, and the BCSEA Board is very pleased to announce that Jessica McIlroy will be stepping into the role as of October 1st, 2016.

Under Ali’s management, BCSEA has made great strides in raising our profile from its grassroots beginnings to a federally recognized player... in the Canada-wide sustainable energy game. The Board would like to thank Ali for her hard work, dedication and the significant progress she has made on our behalf during her time as the Executive Director, as well as a Board member for two years prior.

As Ali Grovue states, “I am leaving the association in more-than-competent hands. Jessica is incredibly qualified, with over a decade of experience in British Columbia’s renewable energy sector. With over three years with the BCSEA as a board member and staff, she has an intimate knowledge of the association, its people and its mission. Jessica understands the industry, its players and the necessary actions required in both policy and social change to ensure a sustainable future for British Columbia.”

Jessica McIlroy will become the BCSEA's new Executive DirectorJessica is the current BCSEA Programs Manager and a former Board member. She has a BSc in Environmental Science, an MSc in Environmental Sustainability, an MBA and a Certificate in Climate Change Decision Making. She founded the BC Women in Energy Network and has worked closely with Marine Renewables Canada, CanPHI West and Cool North Shore. In her role as Programs Manager, Jessica initiated BCSEA’s first high-profile conference, Energy Connections, and helped bring Green Energy Doors Open to British Columbia for the first time.

Given her outstanding credentials and contribution to BCSEA as both a Board member and Programs Manager, Jessica was a natural candidate to promote into the Executive Director role. We feel very fortunate to have benefitted from Ali’s thoughtful and strong leadership in building BCSEA’s momentum up until this stage. We are equally fortunate to be able to smoothly transition to such a strongly qualified and established leader as Jessica McIlroy to continue building on our success and progress in promoting sustainable energy practices in our province.

We ask you to join us in thanking Ali for her excellent contribution to BCSEA and offering our best wishes for her future endeavours, while also welcoming Jessica McIlroy as our new Executive Director and giving her our full support.

Best Regards,

Gord Kukec
