NationBuilder r1 Paov -- Saskatchewan cut wait times for targeted procedures in half

Saskatchewan cut wait times for targeted procedures in half using a "first available surgeon" model.

Richmond Hospital reduced wait times for hip and knee replacements by 75% using innovative scheduling and two operating rooms [1].

We can make wait lists shorter for everyone in B.C. by taking solutions like these province wide. To make that happen, the government needs to make these public system innovations a priority.

Send a message asking the B.C. government to use public solutions to address wait times

Unless our government takes action, profit-minded critics like Brian Day will continue to push for health care changes that make it... easier for doctors to charge whatever they want for services - lining the pockets of private clinic shareholders at the expense of people in pain, and making wait lists longer for most people in B.C.

Note: The "first available surgeon" model would centralize the wait lists, and would then allow all patients to see the first available specialist or surgeon. It would not preventing them from seeing their preferred surgeon if they were willing to wait [2].
