Big thanks to you all for letting VIHA know their community survey on SCS was flawed and needed to be changed. After intense pressure from many, and a Times-Colonist article with our own Bruce Wallace discussing the flawed survey, VIHA has put out a new survey that allows us to express that we supportive, and not concerned, about new services.
Please check out the survey and let your support for SCS in Victoria be known.

Also note there's a comments section, and that SOLID, Victoria's harm reduction advocacy organization run by and for people who use(d) drugs, has put out a list of demands for immediate emergency response.
Please consider supporting these demands by including some of these in your survey comments. Key demands include: crisis funding while we wait for SCS; inclusion of Opiate Substitution Therapy (OST) and heroin prescription as services within SCS in Victoria; and meaningful engagement with potential service users in the development of these services.
▪ ▪ Please visit the SOLID (http://solidvictoria.org) webpage (http://solidvictoria.org/demands-od-crisis/) to read more about what people who use drugs want from health services in our community.
yes2scs is a community campaign to ensure SCS are established and operating in Victoria in 2016. Our commitments include:
* facilitating a process to ensure adequate funding, appropriate services and locations, and a service provider who makes certain these services are trauma informed and culturally safe.
* continuing our work on the Federal Exemption process.
* continuing to work with all levels of government and key stakeholders on this goal and timeframe.
* ensuring people who use illicit drugs and organizations of people who use drugs are fully involved in these processes.
* recognizing the limits of SCS to prevent all OD deaths by continuing to respond to the harm caused by the criminalization of people who use drugs.
