The Chilean Navy ‘schooner “Esmeralda” will be in Canada at the end of June and July: Halifax, Sept-Iles, Charlottetown, Quebec.


This vessel was used as a floating torture chamber during the US sponsored Pinochet dictatorship in Chile. Aboard this ship – among many others - father Michael Woodward was tortured and his body made “disappeared” to an unknown location.


The Chilean navy has never admitted to their crimes and has refused to disclose what they did with father Woodward’s body.


In 2011 the Esmeralda visited Victoria and Vancouver, where they received the rebuke of elected officials and the general public, among them, those who were tortured in the vessel.
