It’s all coming down to this: On Wednesday, MPs will vote on a motion that could put electoral reform back on the table. [1]
We want MPs to hear us loud and clear: we want them to vote in favor of this motion and bring electoral reform back. On Monday, two days before the vote, we’re going to Ottawa to bring a petition directly to Parliament asking them to do just that.
We need to make this petition as big as possible before we deliver it - will you add your name so MPs know that thousands of us still care about this issue and want to see action?

We will be joining our allies at a rally on Parliament Hill before we deliver the petition to Minister of Democratic Institutions Karina Gould. A huge petition delivered on the steps of Parliament Hill could help turn the rally into a major media story and turn up the heat on Liberal MPs to vote for the electoral reform motion. And if the motion passes, it could put pressure on Justin Trudeau to put electoral reform back on the table.
Already almost 10 000 people have signed over the last two months. We’re delivering this in just two days. Can you sign on now, so that the petition is as big as possible before we deliver it on Monday?
The motion asks the House to formally endorse the report of the all-party electoral reform committee, which recommended a proportional voting system. The motion could create the momentum needed to bring the parties back to the table and re-start the conversation on electoral reform. Just 20 Liberals need to support it in order for it to pass - but when we met with Liberal MPs earlier this month, many were still undecided on how they will vote. A flood of public pressure now could be what it takes to convince them to vote in favour of the motion.
When Prime Minister Trudeau abandoned his promise to fix our voting system, the Leadnow community sprang into action. Thousands of you have signed petitions, made phone calls, met with your MPs, written letters to the editor and chipped in to fund ads across Ottawa and in target ridings.
Many of you have also been taking action in your community, knocking on doors and talking to people at local farmers markets, growing our movement for proportional representation, and increasing the pressure on our MPs.
Now, we need to turn up the heat in the days leading up to the vote. Delivering your petition at the rally on Monday will be news-worthy, and will demonstrate that we have strength in numbers. Can you help us make the delivery as big as possible by adding your name now?
