The Tsilhqot’in Nation will be in BC Supreme Court on Monday, July 31 seeking injunctions against a drilling permit issued to Taseko Mines Limited.
The permit, issued four days before new BC Premier John Horgan and his Cabinet were sworn in, authorizes the company to conduct an extensive drilling program in the Teztan Biny/Nabas (Fish Lake) region of Tsilhqot’in territory to advance its New Prosperity Mine Project. The Government of Canada rejected the New Prosperity mine proposal in 2014, and it cannot be lawfully built, as matters stand.
Please stand with Tsilhqot’in Chiefs Russell Myers Ross (Yunesit’in) and Roger William (Xeni Gwet’in), along with Grand Chief Stewart Phillip and Chief Bob Chamberlin (President and Vice-President of the Union of BC Indian Chiefs, respectively) as they bring their petitions to the Court Monday, July 31.
When: Monday July 31, 9 am
Where: Victoria Courthouse front entrance steps (on Blanshard at Burdett), Victoria, BC
