Today, Finance Minister Morneau backed down on several parts of his tax fairness bill -- and there’s a chance the bill could be watered down even further this week. [1]
The Conservatives are orchestrating a deceptive public relations campaign designed to trick backbench Liberal MPs into advocating against tax fairness. And it’s working.
They’ve already convinced Liberal MP Wayne Long to break rank and vote with them on tax -- and if more Liberals follow, Finance Minister Morneau could buckle from the pressure and backtrack on the much-needed reforms.[2]
But if we put out an emergency ad campaign highlighting the truth and the broad support for tax fairness, together we could convince Liberal MPs to ignore the Conservatives’ smear campaign, and support these important reforms.
We have a shortlist of the Liberal MPs who are most vulnerable to the Conservatives’ pressure -- and with your help we can flood their ridings with powerful, myth-busting digital ads.
The more funds we raise, the bigger we can make this campaign. Will you chip in for the emergency ad campaign that could save tax fairness?
So far, the Conservatives have been winning the air war, with their well-resourced deceptive public relations campaign that’s spewing fear-mongering and misinformation.
But the reality is that more people support the tax fairness bill than don’t, and thousands of farmers, doctors and entrepreneurs support the reforms — but their voices aren’t being heard.
That’s where your ad campaign comes in, here's a mock up of what it could look like:

With your help, we can produce a powerful, myth-busting social media ad campaign to make sure Liberal MPs and their constituents hear from the farmers, doctors and business owners who wholeheartedly support tax fairness.
Targeted social media ads are rapidly becoming one of the most powerful tools to influence politics. Experts say Facebook ads are one of the factors that helped Trump win, and the Canadian conservative movement is investing heavily in digital advertising to influence voters and MPs.[3-4]
We can target these ads so they pop-up on the phones, tablets and laptops of our target MPs so that every time they look at the their phones, they’ll be hit with your message.
Chip in now
The Conservatives and the millionaire class are putting Liberal MPs under intense pressure to break ranks with the party and vote against tax fairness. Don’t let the far-right win the digital communications war — chip in to fund an emergency social media campaign to defend tax fairness.
An emergency social media campaign could save the tax fairness bill -- but we can only pull it off if people like you step up to make it happen. Will you chip in?

P.S.
A few weeks ago, dozens of newspapers reported on a conversation between the finance minister and “Farmer Terry” -- a supposedly “independent” farmer from Saskatchewan, presented as a small-time, working-class Canadian, who claims the the tax fairness bill would hurt farmers like him. [5]
But is Farmer Terry actually “independent”? With just 30 seconds of googling, I found out that Terry Youzwa donated $8645 to the Conservative Party -- a big donation for an “independent”, working-class farmer. And it was a Conservative MP who orchestrated his much-hyped meeting with the Finance Minister. [6-7]
The far-right are well-organized and well-resourced. We can’t let them win the digital communications war - chip in now so we can get real stories out there.
