It’s time for a fracking public inquiry!

Tell Minister Mungall the science is in
We need to put an end to fracking

Dear Paov,

The BC Oil and Gas Commission is asleep at the wheel while they’re are driving us towards fracking catastrophe.

For years, fracking companies have built dozens of unauthorized dams. Rather than regulating them, the commission was busy suppressing a report showing 900 fracking wells could be leaking methane! Check out our joint press release summarizing the findings.

Write now to call for a public inquiry! Wherever it has been introduced, fracking can leave a series of devastating impacts behind it including – water pollution, sour gas leaks, habitat fragmentation and declining health. These are just a few of the consequences communities living near fracking can face every day.

We need to put an end to fracking in British Columbia.

What’s the first step? Join us and our allies calling for a public inquiry into fracking in British Columbia!

BC Minister of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources Michelle Mungall says she’s prepared to go forward with her government’s planned scientific review, but not a public inquiry and certainly not a moratorium.

That’s extremely disappointing. Over the last few years, the science has become crystal clear that fracking is a disaster for fresh water, the global climate and human health. Meanwhile, the government body overseeing the practice is deeply broken.

This is a massive regulatory failure. We need answers. And a mere review of the science won’t deliver.

Please write to Minister Mungall and join 17 environmental and social justice groups in demanding a full public inquiry into fracking in British Columbia.
