Dear Paov,
I don’t know about you, but I have a lot to say to our prime minister.
Where to start?
How about Kinder Morgan? What kind of leader pushes a fossil fuel exporting pipeline through a province of opposition and unceded First Nations territory, as climate change burns around us, without batting an eye?
And what about fish farms? BC First Nations met with the provincial government on Tuesday to convince them to get fish farms out of coastal waters where there is no Indigenous consent. Where is our prime minister, who touts reconciliation with Indigenous peoples regularly, and why hasn’t he done something? Indigenous salmon protectors from local nations will also be gathering to confront Trudeau, so let’s stand in solidarity with all groups pushing to bring these concerns to a prime minister that has ignored the voices on this coast!
If there’s an opportunity to say this and a lot more in person, from the top of my lungs outside his Nanaimo town hall, then I am in.
And I bet you are too. Join me this Friday morning – whether you want to line up to register for the town hall or join protests outside, all are welcome.
