Dear Paov,
Can you believe this day?
I can hardly express how baffled and furious I felt following Finance Minister Bill Morneau’s announcement this morning that the federal government is buying Kinder Morgan’s pipeline and oil tanker project.
The price tag? A whopping $4.5 billion — and that’s before all of the skyrocketing construction and legal costs that could easily make it over $12 billion.
All the reasons this pipeline was a reckless disaster a week ago are now infinitely worse because this is now being built on behalf of, and at the expense of, you and me.
Make no mistake — Justin Trudeau is using our taxpayer dollars to violate Indigenous rights, fuel climate change and put coastal communities at risk of a catastrophic oil spill.
If you are in Vancouver today, will you join us at 5:30 outside Science World to show him what we think of this profoundly stupid plan?
Please invite everyone you know and together we’ll stand strong together against the prime minister’s latest betrayal.
If you can’t make it to the event, we need you to call your MP and let them that they're wasting our money because we're going to stop this thing.
