Energy Connections 2018

BCIT Burnaby Campus | September 15

Hi PAOV,

Meet policy makers, government officials and industry professionals at Energy Connections 2018!

On September 15th, connect with hundreds of sustainable transportation experts, enthusiasts, industry leaders and clean-tech professionals at one of BC’s largest sustainable energy events this season.

Energy Connections 2018 will educate, inspire and energize! Join panel discussions with some of the leading minds behind BC's renewable energy and transportation industry.

Here's just a taster of the esteemed talent we have joining us during the day's four sessions:

Derrick Cheung, VP Strategic Sourcing & Real Estate, TransLink

Derrick will be speaking at our first session on Transportation and Land Use Planning. This panel will explore how municipal planners and policy makers are working with mass transit to reduce emissions.

Derrick has also worked in air, rail and marine sectors of the transportation industry leading complex contract negotiations and business transformation & innovation initiatives. At TransLink, Derrick completed Canada’s first 100% privately funded rapid transit station in a planned Transit Oriented Community (TOC) in partnership with local government and industry.

Anaïssa Franca, Pan-Canadian Electric Bus Demonstration, Canadian Urban Transit Research & Innovation Consortium (CUTRIC)

Anaïssia Franca will be speaking in our second session: “Beyond the Barriers to Charging.”

Anaïssia is a Research Strategy Manager at CUTRIC. She has developed an energy consumption tool that can assess how much electricity or hydrogen is required to power vehicles on specific transit routes, how much it will cost and how much emissions can be reduced compared to deploying diesel buses.

Jeffrey Phillips, Clean Transportation & Trade Policy, Dawson Strategy

Jeffrey Phillips will be our moderator for our third session: “The Future of Freight”, where he will lead a discussion on innovative technologies local companies are developing to reduce emissions caused by the transportation of goods.
Jeffrey is the Managing Director of Dawson Strategic, a consulting firm specializing in evidence-based research on international trade, clean transportation, and digital policy issues. Jeffrey helps a wide range of public, private, and not-for-profit sector clients understand and leverage the Canadian policy landscape.

Take a look at the Energy Connections 2018 website for more information on the array of speakers and topics they’ll cover.

We hope you join us in working towards a more sustainable BC at Energy Connections 2018!

Sincerely,

Your BC Sustainable Energy Association
