Major victory over Trans Mountain pipeline!
r1
But the fight isn’t over until it’s over and now we must push hard for the finish line.
...
This pipeline. Will not. Be built.
Tell the feds one last time
Dear Paov,
Our office was filled with cheers and tears of relief this morning as we read out the court decision reversing the government’s approval of the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion.
It’s only now beginning to feel real. But the federal government still plans to buy the doomed pipeline as early as tomorrow. We still have time to stop them.

Today, our friends and allies won on
every major argument before the Federal Court of Appeal. Three judges
unanimously recognized this process was botched from the start. Federal officials failed to meaningfully consult Indigenous peoples and evaluate the impacts of marine shipping on endangered southern resident killer whales.
We are beyond grateful for the litigants who fought this battle in the courts. As Rueben George, who has led this fight for the Tsleil-Waututh Nation, said this morning —
this is a victory for us all. After eight years of fighting oil export tankers on the Salish Sea in BC, we can finally see the end of this project and the grave threat it poses to the coast and climate.
But the fight isn’t over until it’s over and now we must push hard for the finish line.
Minister of Finance Bill Morneau was curiously upbeat today considering his government’s crushing loss. They are finalizing the purchase of Kinder Morgan’s 60-year old, leaky pipeline and the now invalid permits to expand it. They’re ready to go back to the drawing board in a desperate attempt to see this thing get built.
Will you write a letter to Cabinet demanding they accept the court’s ruling and abandon their plans to buy the project?

This is a day for much celebration and a renewed hope that we will put this pipeline to rest forever. We’re so close. Together, let’s finish this.
