Get involved in the discussion, learn about new innovations in transportation and network among academics and professionals at this year's Energy Connections conference!
Some of the speakers you will hear from are:
Neil MacEachern works to implement the City’s Climate Action Plan and Environmental Strategic Plan, entailing community carbon modelling, emissions target setting, corporate GHG reporting, and all other things environmental. Previously, he carried out emissions project verification and environmental auditing with KPMG. Neil is a graduate of Carbon Management at the University of Edinburgh and BCIT’s Sustainable Energy Management program.
Tim Barton leads both a transit team, as well as team considering future mobility options including ride hailing, autonomous vehicles and Mobility as a Service. Current key projects include working with TransLink to deliver a successful 41st Avenue B-Line, planning for a future downtown streetcar and preparing the city for ride hailing. Tim is also involved in a number of strategic transportation planning initiatives across the City.
Kelly Carmichael leads the EV infrastructure projects at BCIT which aims to create infrastructure solutions to be ready for wide adoption of electric vehicles. He participates in Open Charge Alliance to develop common protocols to be used by current and future charging infrastructure. The latest project was demonstrating the ability to charge electric vehicles using spare capacity in municipal street lights after LED upgrades.
Tom Hackney is a policy expert specializing in high level energy transformation concepts, as well as utility regulation. He leads BCSEA’s 100% Renewable Energy by 2050 initiative, which has been engaging and supporting municipalities in greater Victoria to understand, adopt and implement a target of meeting all community energy needs with renewable energy by 2050.
