Tell the BC government to end all grizzly hunting
Dear Paov,
Did you know that there is only ONE grizzly bear left in the North Cascades population in BC?
And that 90 per cent of British Columbians support a complete ban on the grizzly hunt?
Yet successive BC governments have refused to enact a ban. Now’s your chance to tell them you support an end to the hunt – write now! The public commentary ends on Nov. 2.
This week the BC Auditor General released a new report criticizing the provincial government’s inaction with regards to protecting this species – in particular, their inability to manage the species recovery, the hunt, the protection of its habitat from forestry and from oil and gas activities.
The decline of grizzly bears in the North Cascades was mostly due to hunting. Although hunting isn't allowed anymore in this range, hunting continues in other parts of the province. We can’t continue to let grizzly bears be hunted for meaningless sport.
Now is our chance to be heard.
Write Now
The BC government is accepting comments on their grizzly bear hunting policy until Nov. 2, 2017, and they need to hear from you.
The public consultation outlines suggested regulations to allow hunting grizzlies for meat and asks you how that should work.
It doesn’t. The only acceptable course of action is a complete ban on hunting grizzlies.
Write now and tell the government that after all of these years, it's time to put the grizzly bears first.
For the wild,
