Dear Paov,
As you know, British Columbia is a province with incredible amounts of wilderness and wildlife.
But did you know that the BC government has a history of doing very little to protect our species? In fact, BC has no stand-alone law to protect endangered species.
This law is long overdue. Watch our new video and see why species like the spotted owl are at risk of disappearing from BC if we don’t do something fast!
The great news is the new provincial government has promised to enact an endangered species law soon!
We want to be proactive and make sure the government gets the law right the first time. That’s why over the next few months I will be talking about what's needed in order for this law to be effective and ensure the recovery of our species at risk. Then when the time comes, we can speak up and tell the government what key principles are required in the legislation.
Every week you will become more informed about some of BC’s most at-risk species along with critical principles for a law.

If you are an educator, make sure to check out our new Conservation in Action website with BC species at risk curriculum and ideas for classroom activities and field trips.
Don’t forget to share the spotted owl video with friends and family. And follow me on Twitter to stay tuned for new information on my campaigns!
Together we can, and will, protect BC species at risk.
