Fighting to end the Safe Third Country Agreement

This is a test r1

Hi Friend,

When someone’s rights are violated, they deserve justice.

Right now, in the midst of a global pandemic, the federal government is failing to uphold the rights of refugees applying for asylum.

The government is in court, shamefully trying to keep the Safe Third Country Agreement in place. This agreement allows them to turn away and detain asylum seekers making refugee claims at border crossings between the U.S. and Canada.

This is unjust. This agreement must be ended.

When governments disregard fundamental human rights, we need to stand up to hold them accountable.

One of the ways the BCCLA holds the government to account is through legal interventions. The BCCLA is applying for leave to intervene in a case that challenges the Safe Third Country Agreement.

We are determined to argue against the Safe Third Country Agreement in court. We’ll fight hard to end the Safe Third Country Agreement and protect the rights of refugees.

We’re a small organization, but we... want to have a big impact in the fight for justice.

Court processes can be long and complicated. It takes creative tactics and resources to fight these battles. Our lawyers dedicate hundreds of hours to build strong legal arguments. They bring these arguments to court to stand up for justice. They do this work with conviction and a fighting spirit.

With your support, we can bring the best arguments to court.

Will you join us in this fight for justice? We want to raise $30,000 to support 3 interventions at the Supreme Court of Canada next year. Will you make a donation by December 31 and help us reach our goal?

With your donation, you’ll join hundreds of other supporters in bringing our collective fighting spirit before the highest court in Canada.

I hope you’ll make a gift today, and join us in fighting for a more just world.
