UPDATE
New Report: The Place of Assisted Living in BC’s Seniors Care System
We released a new
report The Place
of Assisted Living in BC’s Seniors Care System: Assessing the Promise,
Reality and Challenges with the Canadian Centre for Policy
Alternatives and the Hospital Employees’ Union.
”Working
as an LPN in assisted living can be heartbreaking. We routinely
encounter situations where residents are clearly suffering because
they aren’t getting the level of care they need, but we are told not
to interfere because they have the right to live at risk. This
violates our Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice to provide safe
and compassionate ethical care,” says Anita Dickson, President of
the Licensed Practical Nurses Association of BC. Read more HERE.
TAKE
ACTION
Watch and share the Public Health Care on Trial Video Series. The series includes experts David U. Himmelstein M.D., Steffie Woolhandler, M.D and Andrew Longhurst, MA explaining the potential implications of the Cambie Surgery trial, the most serious threat that our public health care system has ever faced. Please watch and share with friends HERE.
Sign the Petition for Patented Medicines Regulations Reform
Sign the petition in front of the Canadian government in support of proposed Patented Medicine Prices Review Board (PMPRB) regulations. These regulations strengthen the Board's ability to lower prices for new drugs, expand transparency in pricing, and provide patients better access to medications. Stronger price controls on patented medicines are a key underpinning for National Pharmacare. Click here to sign the petition
