Dear Friends of SJS:
here are another two great events happening on campus and in the community:
HOLDING COMMUNITY SPACE FOR SURVIVORS
TO: UVIC campus community and Victoria community at large,
Come and join students, staff, faculty and community members in transforming a space marked by violence into a space characterized by community care, respect, support and learning: On October 8 at 6:00 pm in Parking Lot 1 at the University of Victoria. This gathering is in response to the incident of sexualized violence on September 26th, 2015 on campus.
The space will host AVP’s Clothesline Project, The Men’s Circle at UVic, and performances by the local youth poet laureate Zoe Duhaime and City Councillor Jeremy Loveday.
At 7:15 pm the movie The Hunting Ground... will be shown at Cinecenta, followed by a First Responders Panel discussion on UVic’s campus response to gender-based violence. There will be free food and beverages throughout the evening.
Come join us in solidarity to support survivors of sexualized violence and be part of the movement towards a safer campus culture.
Special thanks to UVSS for support and co-organizing, as well as Pride and SOCC for help with organizing.
