A new era r1 Canada has some of the world’s last wild places. Are we keeping our promise to protect them? ... We're coming to you from Port Renfrew, B.C., this week, where we're spending some quality time with our new Alberta reporter Sharon — who you fine people helped us hire back in the summer.

Port Renfrew is a bit of a paradox: it's an old logging town that now attracts thousands of tourists each year to see some of Vancouver Island's last remaining old-growth trees. It's also got its share of loggers, surfers and fishermen. We love its complexity and character and are looking to let more of those qualities shine through in all of the stories we tell.
