Hi everyone! This week we’re taking on Quebec’s new Internet censorship powers and calling on lawmakers to repeal Bill 74. This recently-passed law lets the provincial government choose which websites individuals are allowed to visit, and Internet policy expert Michael Geist calls it “Canada’s first government-mandated website blocking law,” setting a dangerous precedent for Net Neutrality and free expression online. In case you missed it, here’s a blog by OpenMedia’s Meghan Sali examining the bill and its implications. Make sure to speak out today and let Quebec legislators know you want them to stand up for the open Internet and repeal Bill 74’s site-blocking provisions.
