Hi Paov,
BC’s forest minister has recently confirmed a new land use designation is being considered for the Donut Hole!
That’s exciting news for the 5,800 hectare wild area sandwiched between Manning and Skagit provincial parks we've all been working so hard to protect from logging and mining for the past two years.
We have to act fast before this opportunity to protect the Donut Hole slips through our fingers. Write a letter encouraging BC’s environment and forests ministers to work together and with First Nations to ban logging and mining and other industrial destruction in the Donut Hole forever!
See the video of Joe Foy working from home to bring you news of an exciting opportunity to win the Donut Hole wilderness preservation campaign.
Even if logging or mining is not occurring right now it could start up again in the future if the Donut Hole is not designated as a protected area. It needs to have the same level of protection as the adjoining Manning and Skagit provincial parks.
P.S. Your donations ensure we’re on the ground. Threats to wilderness and wildlife continue even while we’re fighting against COVID-19. I can document and report from the field — safely, within physical distancing guidelines — because you make this possible. We know you may be stretched now and in the coming months. If you are able to make a gift at this time, every little bit helps.
