Dear Paov,
In the lead-up to Oceans Day 2017 next month, West Coast's marine team is ramping up efforts to ensure strong legal protection for the ocean and coasts. See below to learn how you can get... involved in our #Oceans20 initiative by sharing your thoughts on maintaining a healthy marine space. And don't miss our latest analysis of new developments regarding the National Energy Board, federal oil tanker ban legislation and the BC election.
Want to join the team? West Coast is hiring a marine lawyer for a one-year contract – please share! Applications are due June 9th.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Canada's Oceans Act – and the federal government's commitment to protect 10% of our oceans by 2020 – we're asking Canadians what they think is needed to ensure healthy, thriving seas.
Earlier this week, the Expert Panel charged with modernizing the National Energy Board (NEB) released its report, making a number of recommendations to overhaul Canada's system for regulating the energy sector. Some of the recommendations are good news, but others are totally out of step with leading thinking – especially when it comes to assessing major projects like pipelines.
