Canadas climate policies must line up with science

It took me 30 minutes to deliver the IPCC report to my MP. Will you deliver one to yours? r1

Dear Paov,

Today, exactly one year before the next federal election, I delivered the IPCC’s catastrophic climate change report to my Member of Parliament, Jenny Kwan.

I did it because it’s clearer than ever that strong words on climate change aren’t enough, we need our politicians to take ambitious action. This Wednesday, over 1000 people will take action to make sure hundreds of MP across Canada receive a copy of this report and visit from their constituents. Will your MP be one of them?

This morning, I headed to Jenny Kwan’s office in East Vancouver and delivered the IPCC report along with a clear ask for Kwan to champion and support... legislation to update Canada’s climate policies and bring them in line with the urgency called for in the IPCC report. It took less than half an hour for me to print out the report at my local library, take the bus to Ms. Kwan’s office, and deliver it to her office staff.

We need every single Member of Parliament in this country to know that we’re tired of hearing promises on climate -- we need the kind of urgent action called for in the IPCC report. We need to keep fossil fuels in the ground and build a 100% renewable energy economy that respects Indigenous rights and works for everyone.

Real climate leadership shouldn’t be this hard to find, but I know that together, we can make it happen.
