bees

We have just a few days left to call on Canada to take real action to save the bees now.

Will you send a comment to Health Canada to impose the ban on bee-killing pesticides immediately?

Send an email

A,

Thanks to you, we’ve secured a win on banning two major bee-killing neonic pesticides in Canada.

But the bad news is the bans won’t come into effect for three to five years. There is no reason to wait this long -- the EU enacted its ban less than a year after deciding to ban all neonics.

Luckily, we have a chance to tell Health Canada to speed up the process.... A consultation period on the proposed bans is closing in a few days and if we flood it with thousands of messages calling for an immediate ban, Health Canada will have to pay attention.

Will you send a message today to save the bees?

We need immediate action on the bees and we can’t wait five years -- bees are dying at an alarming rate. It’s not too late for them, but we need your help today. And you can be sure that corporations like Bayer will try to overturn the ban -- they are currently taking the EU to court.

We also want to tell Health Canada that all neonics should be treated as one pesticide family, not as multiple of different pesticides. This is what is happening in France -- where they enacted the most progressive ban on the bee-killing pesticide. Treating all neonics as one means that corporations like Bayer and Syngenta can’t make minuscule chemical changes to their products to get around the ban.

We have a perfect opportunity to speak out on this during Health Canada’s consultation process which ends next week.

Send a public comment to Health Canada calling on them to ban all neonics by 2019.

SumOfUs members like you have tirelessly shown up for bees in Canada -- signing petitions, sending in record numbers of comments and attending actions. And it’s made a HUGE difference. The current neonic ban wouldn’t have been possible without you.

Health Canada needs to act now. France and the EU have both taken major action to immediately protect the bees but Health Canada is dragging its heels. Bees are far too important for Health Canada to delay any longer.

SumOfUs members like you are responsible for massive victories for bees. Because of your relentless support, France just passed a ban of all bee-killing neonic pesticides.

This is the massive power of people-power. When we work together our voices are louder than the pesticide industry and we make change to protect the bees. We did it in France, and we can do it again here in Canada.

Will you send a message to protect the bees today?

Thanks for all that you do,
