We can end indefinite solitary

Dear friends and supporters,
You only have 12 hours left to help us reach our $5,000 goal by tonight's deadline. So far over 200 people have answered our call and raised $3,200. We are so close.
All money raised will help fund our critical work to fight the government’s appeal and end indefinite solitary confinement in federal prisons across Canada.
Donate todayFor far too long the federal government has ignored the voices of people locked in solitary confinement cells, and their proposed legislation continues this legacy.
We are deeply concerned that the government's legislation to "end solitary" will continue the practice by another name because it lacks three critical components:
- It does not ensure independent review of solitary placements
- Fails to set a hard cap on days spent in isolation
- Preserves the power of corrections staff to place people in solitary for lengthy periods.
I hope you will join us in our fight by making a donation today - to lift up the voices and experiences of those who have suffered in solitary confinement, those who are still there, and those whose voices have been forever silenced.
Sincerely,
Mark Hosak
