The Climate Report that Trump Tried to Bury

Under the Global Change Research Act of 1990, the U.S. Global Change Research Program, composed of 13 agencies headed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, reports every four years on "current trends in global change, both human-induced and natural, and projects major trends for the subsequent 25 to 100 years."

In an obvious attempt to keep it out of the news, the Trump administration released the most recent report – Volume 2 of the Fourth National Climate Assessment – at 2pm on the day after Thanksgiving.

The 1656-page report begins with a blunt statement that "Earth’s climate is now changing faster than at any point in the history of modern civilization, primarily as a result... of human activities," and that "the impacts of global climate change are already being felt in the United States and are projected to intensify in the future."

The report’s "Summary Findings," published below, are a high-level synthesis of the material in the underlying report, which is published in full on the website of the U.S. Global Change Research Program – Ian Angus.
