A,

Orangutans need trees to live. But profit-hungry companies are tearing down and burning their rainforest homes to grow palm oil trees instead. Orangutans are shot dead when they try to explore these new plantations.

In just the last 16 years, we lost 150,000 orangutans on the island of Borneo in Southeast Asia. That’s over half of the orangutan population living on... that island. We’re losing these creatures fast: 25 of them a day to be precise.

But together we can stop companies buying destructive palm oil and give orangutans a bright future.

You’ve won some huge victories in 2018. You got Pepsi and Nestlé to stop buying palm oil from abusive company Indofood. But there’s so much more to do.

We’ve got big plans for saving orangutans’ homes in 2019 -- but we need your help. Can you chip in even just a few coins to save the orangutans?

Orangutans are special. Intelligent. About 4 feet tall, but some have arms that can stretch out 8 feet wide. They have opposable thumbs on their feet as well as their hands.

Their reddish fur is unique in the ape world. A mother orangutan’s child will stay with her for years, often a decade or more. They make umbrellas from leaves when the rain is heavy.

Can we really stand to lose this beautiful, peaceful ape? Especially when we have a plan to tackle the root of the problem - corporations need to stop buying dirty palm oil.

We just need to fund that plan. And the only way that can happen is if people like you decide to invest.

Can you chip in to help out orangutans ?

Here’s how we’ll end the era of dirty palm oil and save the orangutan:

  • Launch high pressure campaigns against more big global brands like KFC and Unilever to stop them buying dirty palm oil -- and keep up the pressure on Pepsi, Nestlé and P&G to keep their promises.

  • Build a huge political campaign to stop European Union subsidies for polluting palm oil in biofuel.

  • Stop banks lending money to pay for rainforest destruction and new dirty palm oil plantations.

We don’t take any money from corporations or governments, which means we rely almost entirely on small donations from people like you. We move fast to mobilise millions of people who care about stopping rainforest destruction, protecting workers, saving the bees and much more.

Can you help out to end dirty palm oil and save the orangutans?
