Give the Gift of Collective Bargaining This Holiday Season

While many of us will be marking Christmas tomorrow, for CUPW members it isn’t the day it should have been. 50,000 Canadian workers have had their Charter right to collective bargaining revoked. And their forced return to work will have very real and painful results for many. Had their strike been allowed to continue they likely would have also had a safer workplace to celebrate.
Instead and because they were forced back to work under their previous collective agreements, between then and Christmas:
- At least 315 disabling injuries will happen to postal workers;
- Rural and Suburban Mail Carriers (RSMC) will have worked roughly 250,000 hours without pay; and
- Urban postal workers will have worked thousands of hours of forced overtime.
If you don’t see this until after Christmas just remember that collective bargaining is a gift suitable for any occasion. And HERE is where you can go to give it.
Thanks and Happy Holidays from everyone at LabourStart!
