MANY RIVERS STRIKE EXTENDS OVER 70 DAYS

Despite the modest demands of the employees of Many Rivers Counselling and Support Services, the union says that management is refusing to budge.

About a dozen staff members have been picketing since Nov. 2, fighting for better wages and greater autonomy at work. The employees and their union have expressed serious concerns about their working conditions and the behaviour of management.

Many Rivers is a non-profit that provides free services across Yukon with offices in Whitehorse, Watson Lake, Dawson City and Haines Junction. About 98 percent of the organization’s funding comes from the Yukon government. Read more!


INSIDE ALBERTA'S AMAZON FULFILLMENT CENTRE

Alberta’s first Amazon fulfillment centre has only been open a few months, but is already planning to open a second one in 2020.

Here to provide a bit of insight into the working conditions at the fulfillment center in Alberta is a worker I’ll refer to as “M” to protect their identity. M was a seasonal Amazon worker through November and December, hired for “peak” season, meaning she would work anywhere from 40-60 hours a week. Read more!
