Dear Paov,

2019 is a big year. Between a pivotal federal election in October and major upcoming decisions on some massive fossil fuel projects, including the TransMountain pipeline, our 350.org Canada team expects to stay quite busy throughout.

As we build our strategy for the months ahead, we want to know what you’re excited and worried about this new year. Can you fill out a quick survey to share your thoughts?

To be perfectly frank, last year was one of the strangest ones I’ve experienced in a long time. Canada’s tumultuous energy and climate politics took us for a rollercoaster ride.

Despite this, it’s no small feat that Indigenous-led resistance to the TransMountain pipeline drove Texas-based oil giant, Kinder... Morgan to abandon the project. But then Trudeau’s government bought the massive tar sands pipeline with billions of tax dollars -- claiming it was a necessity for Canada’s economic growth and job production.

If there's one thing I learned from this turbulent ride it's that we must directly confront the false narrative that Canada’s economic and employment future depends on an industry that’s wrecking the planet and consistently undermining Indigenous rights.

That’s why I’m excited for our team to champion a vibrant, justice-based vision for the future that we want to build. We’d love to get your thoughts on some of the ideas we’ve had so far. Fill out the survey to let us know what you think.

Thanks for supporting our work here at 350.org.

We’re excited and grateful to stand with you in this fight for climate action.
