A,

Cosmetics giant Yves Rocher makes a whopping 2 billion Euros a year. But it’s still greedy enough to refuse its staff fair pay and safety at work.

132 workers at a factory in Turkey, mostly women, got so sick and tired of the appalling conditions -- they joined a union. The management fired them!

Yves Rocher’s built its brand on women’s empowerment. But it’s walking all over one of the most fundamental rights of its female workforce, the right to unionize.

The sacked employees are refusing to give up and have been picketing the factory for almost 300 days.

And now the union’s support fund for these brave workers is almost empty. Without this crucial lifeline, these brave people and their families will go hungry.

Yves Rocher is hoping they’ll give up. But to keep up the fight, these brave workers are asking for your help.

A, can you chip in to stop Yves Rocher bullying these brave workers?

If one company gets away with firing workers in Turkey for joining a union, what’s to stop other big employers doing the same thing?

If people can’t join a union, they have no way to stand up for themselves and demand wages that will feed their families, safe workplaces, time off when they’re sick and freedom from management bullying.

Yves Rocher’s makeup and skincare products target women. They even sponsor awards for women leaders around the world. Well, the many women who worked at this factory aren’t asking for an award -- they just want their jobs back, and a guarantee they can stand up for themselves by working together in a union. Can you fight with them?

Yves Rocher owns more than half of the Turkish company that has behaved in this appalling way. The cosmetics giant would never treat its French employees that way nor would it try to violate French labour laws guaranteeing their right to unionize. So why is it okay to let it happen a thousand miles away? Yves Rocher seems to think Turkish women don’t deserve these rights.

It’s time Yves Rocher treated its staff with decency and respect, no matter what country they live in. And we know we can do this. Thanks to SumOfUs members like you, in 2016, we pushed the German brand Hugo Boss to respect Turkish labour laws. We can do the same with Yves Rocher and its subsidiaries.

SumOfUs is working closely with the local union and the workers who are asking for your help. A, can you please offer immediate and practical help in this battle?
