Big Oils getting desperate

Friends,
This week, three of the largest oil companies in Canada spent millions of dollars taking out ads meant to swing this fall’s election in their favour.¹
This massive ad buy makes it clear that the fossil fuel industry is desperate to take power in Canada, and they’re going to spend millions of dollars to do it. That’s why we need to double down on our efforts to win a climate debate this fall.
The fossil fuel industry knows the climate crisis is one of the top ballot box issues. Just this week, a poll confirmed that over 60% of Canadians support bold action on climate, even if it hurts the economy.²
They’re terrified of the tens of thousands of people who have added their names to the petition calling for a leaders’ debate on climate change and a Green New Deal – including a growing number of influential artists,... authors, journalists, and movement leaders from across the country.³
Sign the petition and call on CBC to host Canada’s first-ever leaders’ debate on climate change.
Your signature will have an impact right away. The CBC’s editor-in-chief, Jennifer McGuire, receives an email from us everyday with the latest batch of signatures calling for a leaders’ debate on climate change. And on August 9th, our team has a plan to deliver 15,000+ signatures to the CBC Headquarters in Toronto.
We might not have the kind of money that Big Oil does, but we do have people power and science on our side. And it’s going to take all of us to win this one.
Onwards,
Atiya
