Tomorrow, SumOfUs members like you are marching on TD Headquarters in Toronto. We are calling on it to stop funding fossil fuels as part of Global Climate Strike week.
Will you join in solidarity by tweeting TD while we confront executives on their way to work to defund the fossil fuels projects causing climate chaos?
A,
For the first time ever, Alaska’s sea ice has completely melted. Wildfires, floods and droughts are becoming more common than ever.
And TD bank is cashing in on it.
TD is one of the biggest funders of the climate crisis in the world -- it pours billions into funding fossil fuel projects every year.
Luckily, millions of people are speaking out as part of Global Climate Strike week. And tomorrow, my colleague Amelia is confronting executives on their way to work... at a huge action at TD’s headquarters in Toronto calling on the “Green Bank” to break its addiction to dirty fossil fuels, as part of SumOfUs Canadian Team's contribution to this incredible wave of climate action.
TD cares about what current or potential customers like you think.
It spends millions every year on maintaining its “green” brand and hires top-of-the-line PR firms to ensure its name is never dragged through the mud.
Which is exactly why tweeting them while we unveil our giant inflatable Earth, covered in the dirty oil pipelines TD funds, right in front of their headquarters will turn the top heads at TD.
We will never match TD’s financial might but, together, we can show TD the power of everyday people like you and me coming together to make a difference.
SumOfUs has forced banks to pull the plug on fossil fuel projects before. When over 350,000 members like you signed a petition calling on major banks to pull the plug on the Dakota Access pipeline, the epicentre of the Standing Rock protests, the largest bank in Norway decided to pull funding.
With your help, we can force TD to do the same, starting a wave of banks quitting dirty fossil fuels that will ripple across the world.
Thanks for all that you do,
Angus, Luca and the team at SumOfUs
