Paov—We are short of the funds we need to demand that parties support our digital rights this election, and now we're hearing that the Internet Tax is back on the table.

Election Day is less than a month away, and still none of the parties have fully committed to doing everything that’s needed to lower cell phone costs and secure our personal data online.1
If we can't get them to commit to action before the election when they're begging for votes, it'll be that much harder to overcome Big Telecom's lobbyists in Ottawa later. We're mobilizing grassroots action to convince the parties to support our pro-Internet platform, but we're still short of the funding we need to fully fund our campaign through Election Day.

DONATE NOWSome of the proposals the parties have made about the Internet would actually take us backwards. There is a proposal to require you to share your identity on all social media.2 Some refuse to commit to anything that would stop sky-high Internet and phone bills from going higher.3
Even worse is what the parties aren't saying. None of them are talking about the warrantless digital searches at the border, or how they are planning to defend Net Neutrality.
We've developed a pro-Internet platform for the 2019 election, giving candidates exactly the actions they need to take to protect our digital rights to privacy, access, and free expression.4 But our platform won't mean anything if we don't have grassroots support behind it.
We need to use every tool available to connect constituents with candidates to tell them just how important digital rights are. But a new law prohibits nonprofits like OpenMedia from using funds we've previously raised to do election work.
We can only put pressure on the candidates to support our digital rights if we can count on you right now. We're still short of our goal. Will you chip in?
